12 Smart Ways to Deploy and Manage Your Private Cloud

Movement to the cloud continues to accelerate, with 90 percent of enterprises currently using cloud services of one kind or another, according to CompTIA Inc.’s Fifth Annual Trends in Cloud Computing.

Why this continued rush to the cloud? A 2015 survey by Tata Communications finds that 65 percent of enterprises have benefited from speed of access to technology. Sixty-seven percent have managed to cut delivery times to clients and partners. And 54 percent have reduced delivery time of new services to new markets or geographies.

What’s more, 85 percent of IT executives said that cloud has lived up to its hype, with 23 percent saying it has exceeded their expectations, according to Tata.

That said, it is clear that many enterprises are starting on the path to reaping the benefits of the software-defied data center (SDDC). KPMG asked global enterprises what their biggest challenges were when adopting cloud, and came up with, in order of importance: implementation costs were too high; integration with existing infrastructure was too difficult; and the chances of loss of control, data and privacy were too risky.
