The Dell HPC Solution for Digital Manufacturing is a simple and elegant system for manufactures that combines compute, storage and networking in a single chassis. This system can be placed under an office desk, or racked in a data center. It includes a four node HPC cluster with shared NFS storage as well as scratch space per server and full installation services and support.

This technical paper describes the architecture of the Digital Manufacturing system and the rationale behind the design choices. It also presents detailed performance results with sample CFD and CAE applications, as well as power characteristics of the system.

The goal of this system is to make HPC easy for manufacturers, allowing researchers to be more productive seamlessly.
